The Spring is Sprung

In celebration of #worldpoetryday2017

The Spring is Sprung

The spring is sprung the grass is riz
It’s growing fast and needs a wiz
The Equinox is here at last
Let’s hope the winter now is past
The little birds are getting frisky
Doing things that look really risky

Weeds are popping heads up high
Reaching for the clear blue sky
Mulching’s needed no more dig
Unless of course you have a pig
Spread it round and spread it thick
To keep the soil in right good nick

Worms a wriggling from below
To reach the air and have a blow
Leaves unfurling green and bright
Waving, wafting catch the light
Looking forward to the flowers
And seeing how the garden grows

With apologies to one of my favourite anonymous poem, read in a dodgy American accent:-

Der spring is sprung
Der grass is riz
I wonder where dem boidies is?

Der little boid’s is on der wing
Aint dat absoid?
Der wings is on da boid
